I just assisted a client remotely. She sent me pictures of her rooms, we e-mailed and spoke on the phone about design elements that she had already chosen, and those that were yet undecided. I gave her specific design direction in terms of soft goods (windows, cushions), paint colors, lighting and flooring. She is going to implement and consult with S Interior Design as needed.
Should we do more of this sort of design consultation work? It was very satisfying for the client, not to mention budget friendly.

This is a smart approach in this economy. Anything you can do to leverage technology is smart, although there is a danger with color selections and the like in not experiencing the microclimate of the space. The natural lighting can have a profound affect on the actual outcome. Be careful!

Thank you for the feedback Joe. I agree with you about the value of on-site design analysis to make the best choices for things like color. I do think if the right questions are asked and data gathered up-front, a fabulous outcome is possible even with the virtual approach:)
