There is a lot of discussion about re-purposing and recycling these days as we become more environmentally aware. Here is a great example of how that can be done by just about anyone.
A friend had an old wine barrel sitting in her backyard and wanted to get rid of it. A client had a 36″ D, 1″ thick piece of glass she had no use for. Sanded the wine barrel and reinforced the metal bands that were loose due to the wood of the barrel shrinking. Chose a stain and attached casters to the bottom of the barrel. Used collection of corks from wine and champagne bottles on the top. Placed the glass on standoffs on top of the barrel. I also secured 2 swivel barstools from a resale/consignment shop; another recycling example.
The result:
A fabulous new bistro seating area to sip wine, or drink coffee at and read the paper in the morning.
