I asked and you answered, thank you. I asked if anyone could give me some feedback on what the letter ‘I’ could relate to and received the feedback -Images, Imagination. I took these great suggestions and added a bit of my own -Inspiration to end up with – ‘I’ is for inspiring images that spark the imagination. I know , quite a mouthful. In simple terms, this is using images to assist in igniting your imagination for your interior design projects.
“A picture paints a thousand words”—so true.
S Interior Design always asks their clients to pull pictures (either on-line or from magazines) of rooms and spaces that appeal to their design aesthetic. A further request is made for the client not to analyze the details of the image, just go with their gut reaction to the pictures. The dialogue that this exercise then allows for is a critical step for us to understand the client’s innate design likes and dislikes.
So on a rainy or particularly warm summer afternoon, spend some time to create your own image library. When you go back to look at what you pull together, you may be surprised to see some consistent color schemes and/or styles emerge. When you are embarking on a design project, you should use your image library to guide you.
Please feel free to look at S Interior Design’s Flickr photo stream to ignite your imagination. Another design site with great images ( S Interior Design’s included) is Houzz.

Hi Suzanne! I think this is a great idea for inspiration for your client’s design. My family has been in the business of flooring companies for a while, and we have worked with many interior designers, but no one has come up with this simple idea. Thanks for sharing, hope your clients like this approach as much as I do. All the best!

Hi Suzanne,
LOVE your ‘I’ post!
I always include an empty file folder with my company logo on it to new clients (along with their letter of agreement). I suggest they put any inspiration – positive or negative – into it to discuss at our next meeting. Clients love it and it makes my job so much easier.
